Nathaniel P. Brewster, Vice-President and co-founder of THE BREWSTER TRUST, congratulates Tamisha Marshall and Renaldo Hunte
Although THE BREWSTER TRUST intended initially to award one participant finally two local coaches have been identified and got an invitation to the next Arsenal Gap Year programme for one month including accommodation in England as well as travel cost. At the same occasion the charity thanked all local coaches who supported the coaching team during the programme.
Statistics
706 campers took part in this year’s programme. Axel Bernhardt, CEO of THE BREWSTER TRUST, states: “Analysing the Holiday Camp 2012 shows in our eyes interesting and commanding statistics like over 10% girls, nearly 20% rejoined from last year, over 20 nationalities, around 44% of the campers are linked to a local football team or club, no serious injuries and children of all 11 parishes attended – nearly proportional to the respective population. Not one of the planned 45 full camp days had been cancelled due to bank holidays or any weather condition. We served in total 7’260 meals. One figure which is an important indicator for us is the attendance, reviewing the nine weeks over 80% of the registered campers attended in average every day.” Actually the charity is analysing the feedback forms with campers’ and parents’ statement and also reviewing its strategy after two business years in Barbados before planning the next initiative.
Set-up
The Football Holiday Camp 2012 came complete with camp basics but also includes extras for parental comfort and focus on the children like health insurance cover, ambulance service, physiotherapist, hot healthy lunches and afternoon fruit breaks, isotonic beverages or shirt, shorts, socks and shinpads for every camper and not to forget a daily academic football session in classrooms. The courses have been held by coaches from Arsenal FC, namely Joe Mitchell, Sam Ingram, Luke Howard and Ognjen “Oggy” Soskic and Nathaniel P. Brewster, Vice-President and co-founder of THE BREWSTER TRUST. The multifarious coaching sessions included competitions, basic passing techniques, dribbling and turning at speed, slalom, turns, control and heading sessions including aerial control, using various parts of the body, basic techniques of shooting.
