THE BREWSTER TRUST – 851 campers at the Football Holiday Camp 2013

THE BREWSTER TRUST’s Football Holiday Camp 2013 took place at Queen’s College with various age groups during five weeks in the months of July and August 2013.

Facts & figures

The camp started with a coaching course for 34 local football coaches. The following weeks the charity hosted 182 registered campers in the first group of the age group 5-9 years, 181 campers in the first group of the age group 10-14 years, 77 campers in the age group 15+, 183 campers in the second group of the age group 5-9 years and finally 194 campers in the second group of the age group 10-14 years. 851 campers in total participated in the 2013 programme including 315 from the camps in 2011 and 2012. The female quota 2013 has been 11.4%, the average attendance including the Public Holidays has been 85.00%.

Analysing the Holiday Camp 2013 shows again interesting and commanding statistics like the improved female quota, the high rejoining percentage, 17 nationalities from four continents and very important for us children of all eleven parishes attended – nearly proportional to the respective population. Only 37.5% of the campers are linked to a local football team or club, so there is potential for the football youth programmes here in Barbados. Not one of the planned 25 full camp days had been cancelled due to bank holidays or any weather condition. We served in total 8’656 meals. One figure which is another important indicator for us is the attendance, reviewing the five weeks – like last year – over 80% of the registered campers attended in average every day.”

Awarded local coach

On the last day of the camp THE BREWSTER TRUST awarded the Most Outstanding Participant “Coaching the coaches” and congratulated Shonelle Stephen who got an invitation to the next Arsenal Gap Year programme for one month including accommodation in England as well as travel cost. At the same occasion the charity thanked all local coaches who supported the coaching team during the programme.

THE BREWSTER TRUST thanks the coaches Cheryl, Basil, Ben, Luis, Matty, Niall, Nick, Oggy, Pepsi and Russ and the camp partners for the fantastic support, our external registration offices, the venue partner Queen’s College, UNITED Insurance, POWERade, UNICEF, PUMA, REHABWORKS Health Fitness & Performance Centre and of course Arsenal FC. Actually the charity is analysing the feedback forms with campers’ and parents’ statements and also reviewing its strategy after three business years in Barbados before planning the next initiatives.
