Partnership with Arsenal in the media
on April 8th, 2011 in News by The Brewster TrustMedia report after signing the three year commitment with Arsenal FC to support and sponsor the programme Arsenal in the Community:
The Barbados Advocate
THE BREWSTER TRUST – new partner of Arsenal in the Community
The Brewster Trust, founded in 2010, a registered charity located in Barbados, signed a three year commitment with Arsenal FC to support and sponsor the programme Arsenal in the Community focused on “The Gap Year” programme.
After the funding of a first coaching course organised in conjunction with The Brewster Trust and Arsenal FC represented by Alan Sefton and John Olaleye and held at the University of the West Indies in Barbados in April 2010 the discussion between Arsenal FC and The Brewster Trust continued regarding the co-operation in the Gap Year Programme of Arsenal in the Community.
Nathaniel Brewster, an initiator of the charity and actual participant in Arsenal’s Gap Year Programme, said: “The development of sports based social inclusion initiatives has been last but not least the driver to step in and support the programme as the Trust’s general mission is to promote, develop and improve football especially in Barbados with the aim of creating opportunities at all levels, but especially for the youth.”
The founders of the charity, Mr. Chesterfield Brewster and his son, Mr. Nathaniel Brewster, are fully dedicated to assist and support the development of Barbados football. One approach is to have qualified and experienced people who are dedicated to football and are willing to share their know-how. Arsenal’s approach fits perfectly with this philosophy. Taking the examples of Israel or Kenya Arsenal in the Community has recruited year by year several gap year students to coach football, but also to support as assistants in local schools. This is what The Brewster Trust sees as one important element towards fulfilling their objectives.
The Brewster Trust is working on a lasting structure for Barbados Football including Club development, dedicated pitches, infrastructure, functional equipment and facilities, competition in attractive Leagues over all age groups to compete in a full football season.
Interested individuals should all be given a fair chance to participate, to have fun and fulfilment and to be presented the opportunity to represent either their School, Team, Club or even country.
